I’ve owned DJI drones for about 2 years. I’ve used them pretty intensely in various countries, in different conditions and for a multitude of subjects. I think it's time that I share some of my experiences with drones as travel photographer who's always on the road and tries to carry as little gear as possible.
When I bought the DJI Phantom 3 Professional drone the first thing in had in mind were actually the photographic opportunities that it would bring. However, I was also looking forward to shooting some video with it. Here's a short video I edited from some of the footage I shot over this journey through Turkey.
If you get up early enough or stay out late enough, there’s a bit of magic to be photographed in Cappadocia.
I like to experiment and this drone stuff is no exception. Usually people use music with their drone videos. That's great, but often, the music doesn't convey the feel of the place as well as sound from that actual place does.
I got my DJI Phantom 3 Professional drone in Bulgaria and, Bulgaria is a pretty nice country to test it out, I must say. There's plenty of dramatic scenery, old fortresses and weird buildings. The above image is of Assen's Fortress.
