The "Why" before The "How"

Most of the courses, eBooks and educational packages on post-processing look at the How, and very, very rarely at the Why. We’re bombarded with tutorials on how to make our images pop or how to make them look like stills from movies or like old film, but, why do we need to do that? There’s a gap in knowledge. Most of us don’t think much about the way we post-process images beyond the technical issues.
